Johannesburg: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Johannesburg on Friday. This meeting took place at a time when both the countries are continuously taking steps towards strengthening their strategic partnership.
The focus of the meeting was defense and security cooperation. The two leaders talked about working together on important minerals, expanding trade, and opening new avenues of investment. Areas like education and cultural exchange were also discussed in detail. Modi said that on completion of five years of the India-Australia strategic partnership, a concrete change is visible in the relations.

Albanese expressed deep sorrow over the recent terrorist attack in Delhi and the bus accident in Saudi Arabia in which Indians died. Both leaders agreed that it is necessary to further strengthen international cooperation against terrorism.
Albanese said that India-Australia relations are stronger than ever today. He believed that trade and defense cooperation between the two countries can increase rapidly, and further initiatives will be taken for this.
According to the Indian Foreign Ministry, cooperation between the two countries has increased significantly after the relationship was given the status of 'comprehensive strategic partnership' in 2020. The ministry said that in recent years, impressive progress has been recorded in the defense, energy, education, and technology sectors.
During the G-20 summit, PM Modi also met the chairman of South African multinational Naspers, Coos Baker, and CEO Fabricio Blosi. In the conversation, emphasis was laid on increasing investment in India's rapidly growing digital ecosystem. The company expressed interest in new possibilities in the field of technology and digital services in the Indian market.
